By plane

Bydgoszcz Ignacy Jan Paderewski Airport. The modern passenger terminal provides service to over 400,000 passengers yearly. In the terminal there are ATM, shops, café, currency exchange, car rental companies, as well as toilets and a baby care room. The airport is located only 3.5 km south of the city centre of Bydgoszcz. Convenient connection with the airport is provided by the national road no. 25 and bus lines no. 80 and 37N (connecting the airport with PKS [Motor Transport Company] bus station and PKP [Polish State Railways] railway station. Bus 80 leaves from outside the main exit and goes to the city centre; Rondo Jagiellonów stop is located 1km from the main square). Outside the airport there is also taxi stand. It costs around 25 zł to get to the city centre and it takes 10/15 minutes, providing that there is no traffic. Taxis should be clearly marked and have the fares advertised in the rear window.

By train

Each year, about 4 million passengers use the biggest railway station in the city – Bydgoszcz Główna. Bydgoszcz has direct railway connections with the majority of big cities in Poland. Is about 2 km northwest of the Old Town (city centre). In a modern railway station there are wheel-chair access, Wi-Fi, ATM, luggage lockers, convenience stores, a pharmacy, a book store, food court. Trams are just outside the main entrance -no. 5 and 8 go to PlacTeatralny(city centre). It takes just about10 minutes to get there.There are as well taxis available. These will usually charge around 15 zł to get to the Old Town (city centre).

By car

Two important roads run through Bydgoszcz: national 25 and national road no. 10. The first one assures convenient connection with Wrocław, Poznań, and the airport in Bydgoszcz. The other one links Bydgoszcz with Piła and Szczecin, and in the opposite direction – just like the national road no. 80 – with Toruń.

By Coach

From Bydgoszcz, one can get directly to Gdańsk, Warsaw, Poznań, Wrocław and Łódź. Bydgoszcz Coach station [Dworzec PKS] is located near the city centre (20 minutes walk/by tram - about five minutes). Inside the station you can find a ticket office, convenience store, left luggage toiletsand two ATMSs.

TO GDAŃSK (POLAND)

The pre-conference tour starts in Gdansk on Thursday afternoon, June 20, and ends in Bydgoszcz Saturday evening, June 22. Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN) is served by: GDN airport is about 7 miles out of Gdansk city center but is served by frequent and cheap city buses.

Hotel Arche Dwor Uphagena, the base for the pre-conference tour, is in an historic building in Lowertown, on the southern edge of the city center on the banks of the Opływ Motławy, a defensive moat constructed 1623-38. It’s a bit out-of-the-way so getting there by city bus from the airport will take about an hour and require a change.
